The Jesse Tree at Mass Today

We are entering the Advent season and decided to commemorate by making a Jesse Tree, which we shared at mass today. Each day during Advent we will share a different symbol and Bible story from the Old Testament, leading up to the birth of Jesus.

Busy Hub

On Cultural Day Michael, Year 7, taught the children a Tongan action song.

Michael also showed the children how to do some Tongan Art.
A future teacher at St. Joseph's!!! We would be so fortunate.
Michael giving Nevaeh some positive comments.
Another amazing Year 7, Rhea, teaching the children how to make Indian Rice Pictures.
Rhea was so organised and explained what the children had to do in detail. The children responded so well with magnificent works of art. Another future teacher!!! We hope so.
Senior Hub 1 have discovered 'Mystery Science'. An excellent Science programme that gets the children so involved in all things Science around us. This week the children all made their own 'Root Viewer' to investigate what seeds actually need to grow.
In the beginning we had to make predictions on what was going to happen to the seeds.
Each day we observed our seeds to see if our predictions were correct.

Each Thursday Bing comes in to Senior Hub 1 to teach the children Mandarin.
This week the children were learning how to count to 50 in Mandarin and how to write it as well.

The children love learning a new language and are very quick to pick it up.
We are so fortunate to have Bing share her language with us,

Saints and Inspirational People Speeches

Saints Day Tomorrow

On Monday the 16th of November we will celebrate our learning in the Communion of Saints strand. Children can dress up as an inspiring saint, their confirmed Saint. Children can make their costumes or bring a symbol that relates to their chosen saint. They may also like to bring some information on their chosen saint to share. If the students do not wish to come as a saint the need to come to school in uniform. This is not a mufti day.
E.g St Francis of Assisi- bring along a stuffed animal
St Rose of Lima- wear flowers in their hair
St Patrick- wear green, snakes
Keep it simple
